INDIAN INDEPENDENCE ACT OF 1947



  • On July 18,1947 the act enacted by UK Parliment to partition British INDIA in to INDIA and PAKISTAN.
  • Pakistan came in to being on August 14th 1947 and India on August 15th 1947
  • Legislation formulated by P.M Clement Atlee.


  • This was also known as the Mountbatten Plan or 3 June plan
  • The act also demanded for the division of joint property between the two countries.
