ATTORNEY GENERAL
- Appointed by the President of INDIA under Article 76(1) of INDIAn constitution
- Holds the office during the pleasure of the President
- He must be a person qualified to be appointed as a judge of Supreme court
- Attorney general gives advice to the government of INDIA on legal matters
- Assisted by a Solicitor general and 4 additional Solicitor Generals
- References to the Attorney general are made by the Law ministry
SOLICITOR GENERAL
- Sub-ordinate to the Attorney general
- Appointed for a period of 3 years
- Secondary Law officer of the Nation
